Strawberry farming defines the Oxnard Plain. The region's combination of ideal soil, steady water supply, long growing season and temperate climate creates conditions where the crop thrives year-round, peaking in abundance from April through June when the harvest reaches ten million pint baskets daily. The berries move from field to packing shed to wholesale market with a speed and volume unmatched anywhere else in North America.

Ventura County supplies roughly one-third of all strawberries grown in California, making Oxnard the de facto strawberry capital of the United States. The scale is staggering: tens of thousands of farm workers, seasonal labor camps, packing operations, refrigerated transport, and the supporting services—equipment, seeds, pest management, water systems—that feed an industry worth hundreds of millions of dollars annually. The landscape and the local economy are shaped by this single crop.

For agricultural families in Oxnard—whether they own land, manage farms, work the harvest, or operate packing sheds—the strawberry season is both opportunity and risk. Income fluctuates with the harvest, work can be seasonal, and the lives and livelihoods depend on weather, water, labor, and market prices that can shift. Planning for a family's financial security means protecting against the years when one income would be lost to circumstance. That is what a term life insurance policy is built to do.
